NATURAL beauty has been elevated to a new level for this year’s Mercedes-Benz Townsville Fashion Festival.
Selected as ‘The Look’ of the festival earlier this year, model and James Cook University student liaison Courtney Rodger, 22, has been photographed in a handmade paper butterfly dress using over 1300 butterflies, chicken wire and minimal fabric
The stunning image will appear on everything from brochures to taxis and billboards before the event.
Inspired by local flora and fauna, this year’s festival will celebrate Townsville’s “Alive with Curiosity” slogan while showcasing top designers from around the nation.
Ms Rodger said the dress, designed by graphic designer and photographer Matthew Gianoulis, would also be showcased at the festival.
“It’s a piece of art,” she said. “It was very special to be a part of such an amazing shoot. It really does relate what Townsville is all about being from a tropical area.
“It’s exciting and hopefully everyone wants to come to the event.”
Townsville Fashion Festival President Madonna Simmons said Ms Rodger was selected based on her look, walk and natural beauty.
Tickets for the October 24-26 event will be on sale from Monday.
